Alice Nine was among the artists that participated in the recent V-ROCK FESTIVAL '09. The vocalist Shou appeared onstage in an outfit with black sequins while also sporting red eye-shadow...but there was one problem. He was wearing the exact same kind of things as another artist! Shou talked about what happened at V-ROCK FESTIVAL.

"Later [after deciding on makeup and outfit for festival] when I looked at the artist photos of the GazettE-san for their single 'BEFORE I DECAY'...I found that Ruki-san was wearing similar black sequins and also red eye-shadow!
Since I was planning to wear the outfit and put on the makeup for V-ROCK FESTIVAL, I sent an e-mail today [October 24th; the day Alice Nine performed] to Ruki-san and asked, ever so politely, if it was okay to wear similar costumes and use the same kind of eye-shadow.

(Long pause)

There was no reply from Ruki-san!
I thought 'I'm sorry Ruki-san! But I'm going to wear them anyway!'
After we performed and came back to the dressing room, I found that Ruki-san had emailed back to me.
He had written 'Sure, go ahead!' It turned out he hadn't been upset at all! (laugh)
Basically what I'm trying to say is Ruki-san is a very nice person."

Yuina Leaves Dolly

Visual kei rock band Dolly have announced that following their upcoming concerts at LIQUIDROOM ebisu on November 4th and 5th, guitarist Yuina will be leaving the group.

Yuina was reported sick a few months ago, which made it impossible for him to perform at Dolly's one-man concert at Nihon Seinenkan on May 10th. Therefore, the band decided to take a break to wait until the guitarist was fully recovered and booked the two aforementioned concerts as their comeback performances.

In a message via their official website, the band state that this decision was the best result that the members could find after several discussions. They also apologize for making the fans worry and wait so long to see them again. Even though there is not very much time left with all five members, the band also hopes everyone will fully support them until then.

[Movie] Bunraku (2010)

Musician Gackt will act in his first Hollywood film. The movie, titled "Bunraku," is an action film written and directed by Guy Moshe, starring Josh Hartnett and Demi Moore.

The film is named after a type of traditional Japanese puppet theater, but the universe it is set in also draws inspiration from origami, video games, and other sources. Hartnett plays a drifter on a quest for revenge. Gackt will play his companion, a samurai named Yoshi.

This is Gackt's first movie role since he starred with hyde in the 2003 film "Moon Child."

Michael Jackson passed away in June 2009, and a documentary film featuring Michael titled 'マイケル・ジャクソン THIS IS IT / Michael Jackson's This is It' has premiered in theaters worldwide on October 28th. On October 27th (local time) at Los Angeles's NOKIA Theatre, X JAPAN member YOSHIKI attended the premiere event.

The movie highly anticipated by fans all over the world attracted a host of big name celebrities to the event, including Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez, who have known Michael well. YOSHIKI was also well acquainted with the artist, so a person close to Michael directly invited him to the event.

YOSHIKI has been busy lately, especially since recovering from a surgery. Although he was physically tired he still made it to the event. Above all else he genuinely wanted to pay respect to Michael as a fellow musician. His appreciation for Michael could be seen from the way he attended the event. Even though the event was attracting lots of attention around the world, he purposely avoided the red carpet and left just as silently on his way home.

YOSHIKI at first was smiling, but as soon as the film started he began to shed tears. He seemed deeply grieved by the death of Michael, and the movie probably brought back memories while strengthening the sense of loss. He only stopped crying after the film finished.

In Japan, among the four seasons, autumn along with spring is the ideal time to enjoy all sorts of things because of the mild weather. The food tastes good, the air is crisp and clear, so it is considered the perfect season to do just about anything, from eating to playing sports. Ayabie member Aoi seems to be happy about autumn too.

The aroma of the potatoes convinces me that autumn is truly here♪ Although to be honest I'm not fond of eating them...okay, my eyes are getting tired from reading books and looking too much at the computer screen. As mentioned before and in Aoi's blog, all kinds of activities could be enjoyed in autumn. Reading, studying...but eating good food is hard to beat!

The Hiatus is a Japanese rock band formed in 2009 by Takeshi Hosomi of the band Ellegarden. The Hiatus is considered by some Ellegarden fans to be Takeshi Hosomi's solo project, but the project is a real band featuring talented musicians from other popular Japanese bands including Thee Michelle Gun Elephant, Radio Caroline, and FULLSCRATCH. "I went out to eat the one thing I had planned to have from before the tour; my favorite dish, paella! ...Although I've never tried any. After walking for 15 minutes I couldn't find a restaurant that was open. It was Sunday...I came across lots of sports bars...no wonder Barcelona is such a strong team!! I saw many kids playing soccer in the streets! Eventually I ventured into one of the sports bars, but they told me they don't have paella. Great!!! But it was a bit exciting to see the menus written on chalkboards placed out in front!! In the end I settled for some fried rice with fried squid."

After enjoying sightseeing in Barcelona, MUCC held their concert!

Hardcore punk and thrash band CRUCIAL SECTION have announced that they will tour Europe in November with the UNITED THRASH NIGHT EURO TOUR 09.

The tour will be organised by French label ONE PERSON PRODZ and Japanese label CREW FOR LIFE RECORDS, which is owned by the band's singer HIRO. In January 2009, CRUCIAL SECTION released a joint CD in collaboration with French band THRASHINGTIN DC, which was released through both of these labels.

CRUCIAL SECTION will be performing with various other bands throughout the tour, which will last for nine consecutive dates. The tour will start on November 7th in Preston, UK, and will take the band to Belgium, Germany, France and Italy. It will end on November 15th in Lyon, France, though this date is still to be confirmed.

"The 'V-ROCK FESTIVAL '09' was held on October 24th and 25th at Makuhari Messe. Over 50 visual-kei artists gathered.

the GazettE, which had just released their new single 'BEFORE I DECAY', appeared as the headlining band and passionately performed 13 songs. Even from before they had appeared, fans had been very excited and had continued to call out the members' names. The moment the band started playing the audience shook their heads and cheered. Some fans fainted during their performance. The vocalist Ruki taunted the crowd. "We're going to end this with some big fireworks. Go wild!" the GazettE went on a rampage while Ruki shouted "Don't think! Let it all out!" The band also performed an unscheduled encore. Like Ruki said, they finished the event with a big bang.

Versailles performed for the first time in public after the death of bassist Jasmine You in August. The four members appeared on stage with Jasmine You's favorite bass. While gazing at the bass, vocalist KAMIJO told fans how fortunate he felt about participating in the event. "This is our first performance in a large scale event since our major debut in June. We're thankful for being able to play here. I'm sure Jasmine You in heaven feels the same way."

Reno: People all live their own lives, and for each life they're the main character. People view the world subjectively, and generally think that the world revolves around them. Everyone feels that way, and each one's way of thinking is different. That goes for no matter what sort of lives they're leading, and regardless of their jobs and occupations. Nobody in the world has the same views, but still we are able to share and sometimes agree with them. We are capable of learning from other people's experiences and ideas.
I've come to the conclusion that it's no use to just concentrate on practicing the guitar all day inside. It's better to go outside every now and then. Go out, then discuss and adopt different views.
After talking out in the open, go back into your house. That's when I start playing the guitar while contemplating deeply and seriously about my career and life. It's important to talk with friends, and people who are both younger and older than you. You might find a completely different self. You've only got one life to live. People who can happily enjoy life win. I'm trying to do that, but first you must work hard everyday. By taking small steps each day that will eventually lead you to become more confident.
I'm starting to ramble a bit. What I'm trying to say is I'll make all of you happy. That's all.

The fourth installment of the popular movie series 'Pirates of the Caribbean' will start filming in the near future, and the subtitle was recently announced as 'On Stranger Tides'. The films are widely enjoyed here in Japan too. A survey was conducted by TSUTAYA online where people were asked "If Jack Sparrow were to be played by a Japanese actor, who would be your ideal pick?"
SMAP member Kimura Takuya was the No.1 choice. His sexy yet humorous personality perfectly matched with the image of Jack Sparrow. Kimura is well-known outside of Japan as well with his appearances in the movies '2046' and 'アイ・カム・ウィズ・ザ・レイン / I Come with the Rain'. That also helped him take the No.1 spot. No.2 went to Odagiri Joe, whose sexy and unique personality has similarities with Jack Sparrow too. No.3 was Matsumoto Jun, and No.4 Matsuyama Kenichi. No.5, No.6 and No.7 each went to Abe Hiroshi, Karasawa Toshiaki and Mikami Hiroshi. All three accomplished actors are able to put on solid performances in any kind of movie. They never look out of place nor act in a way that runs counter to the film's atmosphere. No.8 was Fukuyama Masaharu, Mizushima Hiro No.9 and Tamaki Hiroshi No.10. The top 10 list included not only veterans but also young actors gathering attention; in all a good lineup of well regarded actors. Quite a few of them have been successful as musicians as well.

昨日に引き続き、２日目もヴィジュアル・アプローチが個性的なアーティスト達が続々と登場。オープニング・アクトのHANGRY&ANGRYのゴ スロリ・ファッション然り、Loveless(北出菜奈)が歌うアニメの主題歌然り。それらが今の日本文化を象徴するものだとすれば、逆に古来より生き続 ける和のテイストをふんだんに取り入れてるバンドがKagrra,である。本編のトップを勤めた彼らは、衣装だけでなく今回の演奏曲の
ほとんどに琴を用いて音楽でも西洋文化と日本文化を見事なまでに融合させ、独自の音楽スタイルを提示した。
最先端ファッションのリーダーである土屋アンナは身重にもかかわらずステージに小走りで現れ、ヘッドバンギングしたりと手加減一切無し！　彼女の中に貫かれるロック・スピリットを再確認することに。デス声とソリッドな演奏で観客に媚びないステー
ジ ングで存在感を示すSadie、それとは真逆のベクトルで笑顔を絶やさずファンと一緒に楽しい空間を共有する彩冷える、ウサギをモチーフにカラフルでポッ プなステージを披露するかと思いきやギター・サウンドはエッジが効いていたりと一筋縄ではいかないLM.C、歌メロが心に響くヴィドール、バンド名どおり にどこかしらクラシック音楽の要素が感じられる摩天楼オペラ、歌詞以外は一言も言葉を発することなく狂気
に満ちた痛々しい世界観を体現したメリー…今、音楽シーンで注目されてる彼らの、キラキラした個性が咲き乱れた。音楽キャリアは一つ上の世代、CASCADEの相変わらずオシャレでぶっとんだ演奏も、INORANの歌とMCも、キャリアを積んでさらにグレードアップ！
　さらに上の元祖・ヴィジュアル系ともいえる高見沢俊彦は多くのギタリストを従えて(笑)登場、ウン十年変わらぬハイトーン・ヴォイスと王子の姿に度肝を抜かれた人もいたはず。
フィ ンランドから来日したNEGATIVEも登場したメイン・ステージのトリを飾ったのは、最新シングルが初登場2位を記録したthe GazettE。会場を埋め尽くすファンとの一体感はまるでライヴハウスのよう。ノリにのってる彼らの計り知れないパワーを思い知らされた。
ま た、ブースを挟んだ別のステージで行われたVersaillesのライヴ、実はJasmine Youの急逝後、初のステージだった。”今日が俺たちの正式なメジャー・デビュー・ライヴになります。＜中略＞きっとJasumin Youも天国で喜んでるんじゃないかな”と語るヴォーカルのKAMIJO。6月に念願のメジャー・デビューを果たし5人で立つはずだった渋谷 C.C.Lemonホールの公演が叶わぬ夢となってしまった今、”V-ROCK FESTIVAL '09”に参加するか、相当な迷ったときく。悩んだ結果、参加の意思を貫いた彼ら。複雑な想いはステージに立った瞬間、少しだけ和らいだのだろう…。彼ら を見守るファンの視線、声援がいつもより、やわらかく温かく感じられた。
素晴らしい演奏、心を揺さぶる瞬間のきらめき。多くのドラマを産み落とした”V-ROCK FESTIVAL'09”は日本の音楽シーン、いや、世界の音楽シーンの歴史に深く刻まれたはずだ。もちろん、そこに参加した全ての人達の心の中にも。
