Off topic : Studio Ghibli's new film, Karigurashi no Arietty

Studio Ghibli is currently working on a new film set to premiere in summer next year. Recently it was announced that the title is '借りぐらしのアリエッティ / Karigurashi no Arietty [lit. 'Arietty the Borrower']'. The script will be written by Miyazaki Hayao, and the rookie Yonebayashi Hiroaki will direct it. The film is based on the British children's novel '床下の小人たち / The Borrowers' written by Emily Norton and published in 1953. In the novel the story takes place in 1950s Britain, but for the movie the setting will be moved to Koganei, Tokyo in 2010. The main characters are Arietty, a tiny girl that lives under the floorboards of a house, and a boy that is an occupant of the house.

The official website (http://karigurashi.jp/) has opened, and comments by the producer Suzuki Toshio are being shown. According to Suzuki, Miyazaki Hayao first proposed the project in early summer 2008, but the original ideas had been discussed between Miyazaki and producer/director Takahata Isao nearly 40 years ago.
