Polysics: Losing A Member

Source: Tokyograph (thanks to Gayle :3)

On Wednesday night, POLYSICS announced that member Kayo (synthesizer, vocoder, vocals) will be leaving the band next year. She has been part of the group since 1998.

According to her comments that accompanied the announcement, Kayo indicated that she first began thinking about leaving several years ago. She initially joined POLYSICS after being invited by leader Hayashi, but over time, she wondered, "If I wasn't a member of POLYSICS, what kind of person would I be? If I wasn't a musician, what kind of person would I be?" It seems that she hopes to try living a normal life, leading to her decision to break off from the band.

Kayo will participate in the group's recently announced U.S. tour, which runs from late January to mid-February 2010. Her last performance with POLYSICS will be on March 14, when they play at the Nippon Budokan in celebration of the 10th anniversary of their major debut.

In addition, POLYSICS also stated that they will be taking a break as a group after the Budokan concert. The break is said to be a recharging period in preparation for the "second generation" of the band (without Kayo). They remarked that the hiatus may be a very short one.
