OMOTOLA'S DAYS OF MUSICAL BLISS

It was a night of fun, glitz and glamour on Friday, September 24, 2010 as screen diva, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde treated fans and friends to a 5 star album launch event at the Eko Hotels.

Not minding the N100, 000 a table pass, dignitaries, fans and friends of Omotola and the press stormed the Eko hotels in droves for the album launch.

Roll call of dignitaries at the event include, a former governor of Ogun state, Chief Olusegun OSoba and his wife, representatives of the Delta and Ondo state governments, Abba Folawiyo, Florence Ita Giwa, Publisher of Ovation magazine and presidential hopeful, Dele Momodu, Professor Pat Utomi and wife, Mr. Ben Bruce.

Celebrities also came all out to support one of their own as popular entertainment personalities like award winning musician, Tuface Idibia, Dj Jimmy Jatt, Sasha, Ay, Ali Baba, Chidi Mokeme, Stella Damasus, Matse, Omawunmi were present at the event.

Opening the event was the King of Comedy himself, Ali Baba reeling out jokes for close to an hour. Ali Baba’s performance was followed by a presentation on the life and career of Omotola. The presentation, a videography, was dubbed The Journey. The video featured eminent personalities give their views on the actress cum musician, Omotola as a diva, mother, business woman and musician. Speaking on the virtues, talent and other enviable characteristics that the mother of four possess were, the CEO of Naija ninja, Sound Sultan; publisher of TW Magazine, Adesuwa Onyenekwe, Joke Silva and Segun Arinze.

Coming after the videography was the unveiling of the Video Stop The War, Stop The War, a song that centers on the effects of war on humanity and features award winning rapper Mode 9 moved the audience who couldn’t help but purge out emotions at the display of the trauma, plight and anguish of war torn areas and brilliant interpretation of the song. As if to further heighten the emotional atmosphere, a group of children came on stage with candles in a way typical of a candle light procession to perform to the song, Omotola soon emerge on stage to give the presentation a boost she thereafter performed two of her songs.

Ace comedian, Ayo Makun was next in line. He cracked enough ribs with a lot of jokes from his repertoire. A dance group Frankling Speaking followed suite as they mimed to some of Omotola’s songs.

The MC of the day, Ali Baba was in charge of the launching which saw dignitaries at the event promising to donate to the album. Talented musician, Tuface however donated a hundred thousand naira with Mabel Makun, the beautiful wife of Ay also following his step by donating a hundred thousand naira.

Omotola closed the night with several other performances and cutting of the cake; she announced to the delight of the audience of a new deal she has with an American firm to take up Stop The War.

As part of her album launch, Omotola also gave to the society and encouraged friends and fans to also give gifts to the less privileged in the society, this she did at her charity show, Give and Let Give which was held at Fantasyland, Ikoyi on Sunday 26th September. The event had several performances form upcoming and established artists. Artists at the event that was anchored by upcoming comedian Marvlous were Sound Sultan, Kore of the Olori Oko fame, Harrisong, Asha gangali.
